Rakaia Gorge

As part of our Anniversary weekend we went out to Rakaia Gorge today. Wow what a stunning spot. It's about 60 mins from Chch and well worth the drive. The colour of the water is amazing. It was quite an overcast and drizzly day but still it was beautiful.

Boating down the Avon

Can you believe it is our 7th wedding Anniversay on 2nd Oct 2006. It's been a long 7 years ;)

As a surprise I booked us into The Chateau on the Park which is just on the city outskirts. We had a beautiful boat ride down the Avon and picnic.

Birdlings Flat

It's school holidays here and the kids and I took off for the afternoon to great spot called Birdlings Flat, we prefer to call it "pebble beach"

Saskia was the map reader and we missed the turn of LOL. So here is a view toward Akoroa, a French settlement about 20 mins past Birdling Flat

The whole beach is made of pebbles, too weird!

Gorgeous contrast of the grey pebbles and greenery behind.

The kids spent ages throwing drift wood into the waves.

You can't see so well from the pics but the waves are really wild here. the wind is so strong that at time I have to hold onto Saskia or she will take off.

Ducks in the front garden

What a cute sight we came home to last week. A couple of ducks had made our front garden home.

They were surprisingly tame and weren't scared at all until Saskia chased them :)

Melb Aug 2006

OK this is a bit late but here are some pics from our Melb trip a few weeks ago. We had a fab time as usual. We all came over for this trip which was great as it was the first time we have been back as a family since moving to Chch.

There is something special about being a tourist in your home town. I saw so much more on this trip and appreciate just what a beautiful city Melbourne is. Everyone should leave their home town for awhile to know what it is they really have.

Dad gave me a new camera which is just fantastic. So here are some pics that I took.

We went to the Picasso exhibition which was a major highlight.
